From Our Blog to Yours… are you a reader?

Hi Sweet Shoppe Blog readers! ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s Ange coming at you tonight with “From Our Blog To Yours” and it’s my first time taking on this blog event! ๐Ÿ™‚

I was “blog hopping” the other day and found this fun little quiz about reading on Melissa’s blog. I changed it up a tiny bit, but mainly it’s some fun questions about what you are reading, what you have read and what your reading habits are. Personally, reading is something I like to do each night before I go to bed. Nothing better than having a great book you are in the middle of that you can’t wait to read at night (and sometimes I sneak in a few moments during my day as well!)!

Without further ado… and please feel free to add to your own blog and blog about as well… or answer a question or two in a comment… whatever! ๐Ÿ™‚

Amazon or brick and mortar? Me – I rarely buy, but if I do it’s usually from brick and mortar stores. I try my hardest to borrow books I want to read, and I only buy my absolute favorites. Arissa gets most of her books from the Scholastic Book Club book orders (don’t you remember those… LOVED book club “arrival day” back in Elementary school!). Bryan gets most of his books from Amazon, and Rees gets most of his books from Santa or the Easter Bunny. We have 4 favorite methods at our house!
Bookmark or dog ear? Book Mark… dog earing seems so destructive!
Alphabetize by author or alphabetize by title or random? Neither
Keep, throw away, or sell? Give them away. I only keep my most favorite books!
Keep dust jacket or toss it? Keep
Read with dust jacket or remove it? With it on
Short story or novel? Novels.
Harry Potter or Lemony Snicket? Harry Potter
Stop reading when tired or at chapter breaks? Both – I stop at the first chapter break when I’m just “too tired”!
“It was a dark and stormy night” or “Once upon a time”? How about “He noticed her from across the way”… lol!
Buy or Borrow? Borrow. Usually from my mom’s library because our small town small library leaves much to be desired. And my mother NEVER uses her own library. It’s so odd to me, but I get good use of her library card! ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m always afraid that they will “catch me” checking out books on her card, and take away her card, and when I say that she says “Oh, I won’t care if they confiscate my card, I never use it anyway” and I say “But mom, I will care!”.
New or used? More likely new, but I’m not opposed to “used”.
Buying choice: book reviews, recommendation or browse? Recommendations and browsing
Tidy ending or cliffhanger? Tidy ending, and leave no strings hanging. Everything must resolve nicely for me to be happy!
Morning reading, afternoon reading or nighttime reading? Nighttime, right before bed. Sometimes I’ll steal a little reading during the day.
Stand-alone or series? I do either.
Favorite series? Probably Harry Potter.
Favorite children’s book? Probably “The Math Curse” – it’s hardly a story though.

Favorite book of which nobody else has heard? Eve’s Daughters – Lynn Austin (I don’t know if people know of her or not… lol!)
Favorite books of all time? Where the Red Fern Grows was my favorite as a child. I really loved the Secret Life of Bees.
Least favorite book you finished last year? Eragon – I did drag myself through it, but I hated nearly every moment of it… and I know I’m in the minority on that one – so many people love that book, just not me!

What are you reading right now? I’m reading “Pages from the Past” by Joann Arnold and just finished “Princess Academy” by Shannon Hale.
What are you reading next? Whatever my book club decides on next! ๐Ÿ™‚ (Borrowing Melissa’s answer for that one!
Have a great weekend everyone! ๐Ÿ™‚
