Featured Babe 4/16 – Aggie Aviso!

This week we’re featuring one of our longtime Babes – Aggie Aviso!! I have been a fan of Aggie’s for a long LONG time. We both started our digital scrapping addiction hobby around the same time and if you go way way back in my favorites folder you will find LOTS of her layouts there. She is amazing with patterned papers and I love how her layouts usually highlight the every day moments in her family’s life.

Here’s a little more about Aggie:

I have been scrapping since 2005, use Adobe Photoshop CS3 and a Bamboo Wacom tablet I won from the PenScrappers Contest for scrapping. I take pictures using my Canon Rebel xTi. I’ve been a member of the Sugarbabes since February 2007!

1. What elements can you not live without?
I cannot live without flowers, stitches and an awesome alpha. I use flowers on everything, even on a boy page. I even layer them on top of one  another to achieve a color combination I’d like to give my page. You might notice I use border stitches a lot too, I tend to mat my page with two papers and I just feel something should hold them down, just like a paper layout. I also work on my titles the longest.

2. Are you a morning or a night-time scrapper?
I do scrapping in bursts. I have a job that usually has stressful phases when I cannot find time to do anything else. But when I have a lull while waiting for more work, I scrap all day sometimes 5 days straight. I can work on a page for an hour and do one right away. It helps that even if I do not scrap I keep my pictures in folders so scrapping doesn’t really take that much time.

3. If you had a weekend away, no kiddos, no hubby..what would you do?
What do you think I will do? Of course I will scrap, but maybe for only a day. I’d pamper myself at the spa for a day followed by watching seasons of House, Grey’s and Glee that I haven’t been able to watch because my kids hog the TVs all day.

4. How would you describe your scrapping style?
I really do not know my style – five years into scrapping and I haven’t really discovered what my style is. I am a pretty template heavy user these days, it just helps me to scrap and document things faster. I love taking down stories and just really documenting our life.  Some scrap for artistic purposes and a creative outlet, I scrap to really just get the stories down. My son, who is turning 10, loves looking at the pages I make, he always has a comment on what stories I should take down! One time we were out on a family day and they were enjoying their favorite ice cream, he told me I better take a picture of them because that’s their favorite, and you know what? I did 🙂

I also asked Aggie to share a few of her own favorite layouts and tell us what she loves about them:

As I’ve said, my style is really story-based. I actually was about scrap another picture when I came across this photo series and just had to scrap them. It shows the personalities of my kids so well. The title also came so easily for me – Kuya is older brother in our language and Ate is older sister. So translated it means Big Brother, listen to me! Your Baby Sister, (Older Sister) Martha. That’s how my kids really are in real life!

This has got to be my most favorite page in 2009. Shawna’s kit just spells out happy and I love the colors and it was just perfect for my kids’ loving faces. I dont get to have them in those kinds of poses so this is a treasure.

The picture just makes heart melt. The quote from Manda was perfect from what I really want to say!!

Sibling Love – my kids – at their finest!!!
