Friday Featured Staffer – Andrea Gourley

TGIF Sweet shoppers!  I love Fridays for two reasons – 1. Sneak Peaks come out today & 2. Friday Featured Staffer.  This Friday our scrapper is a Babe that is super talented, active in the community and is as sweet as pie.  It’s Andrea {Geordie Girl}!!  Yep – this week we are featuring a Hybrid Babe.  So get out those scissors, glue and flowers for the Blog Bonus Challenge.

Andrea has been making cards, scrapbook layouts and other papercrafts for about 10 years but has been using digital kits (for hybrid) for about 3 years. She uses Photoshop Elements 5 for manipulating the digital papers, resizing elements etc. and she has an Epson Inkjet printer and an HP Laser printer. She is a full time teacher in a special school and Andrea is also a freelance designer for several papercrafting magazines here in the UK – Scrapbook Inspirations, Complete Cardmaking and Perfect Day magazines.  You can see her amazing designs at MSA and her blog is awe inspiring – www.andreagourley.blogspot.com.

I had a few questions for Andrea about her art & the hybrid way.

Q. What do you love about hybrid?
I love that I can reduce the patterns on 12×12 paper to fit any sized projects. I love that I can have an idea for a project, shop for and download digi supplies and be making something within 15 minutes of having the idea – so convenient! And I save a fortune as my favourite piece of paper never runs out – I just print more if I need it 🙂

Q.  What basic supplies to you use on most projects?
Ribbon, buttons and brads – I think I have an addiction to buying these supplies.  😆

Q. What are some of your tricks of the trade in regards to hybrid scrapping?
Use white card to mat your patterned papers onto to give the colours a lift and make them pop and always keep your scissors and craft knife sharp so you don’t get fuzzy edges when you cut out

Q. What’s your favorite kind of project to work on?
Cards! I love making people happy and I think receiving a card through the mail is such a lovely way to start the day

Here are her 3 favorite projects from her gallery at SSD:

I love this little cake box, the designs of the papers were just perfect to work with!

My friend taught me how to make these money boxes out of 4 wooden beads and a sheet of chipboard, it sits on my window ledge in my craft room and Im saving for our next crafting retreat together.

I love this card so much I am beginning to think that I should change the monogram to an ‘A’ so that I can keep it for myself 😆

It’s a Hybrid Blog Bonus!! This week we want you to brows through Andrea’s Gallery either at SSD or MSA and be inspired! Lift one of her fabulous projects for a Blog Bonus.  Please make sure you mark this as Blog Bonus #1 on your May Portfolio Tracker and remember that these cannot be combined with any other Portfolio Challenge.  This Blog Bonus Challenge can be used for a New Release point making it worth 2 points.
