Hot 4 Hybrid – Card template freebies to play with!
Hi! Sara here, with this weeks H4H instalment.
A month or so ago, there was a thread in the forum where a lots of people were saying how they simply had no clue where to begin to make a card. This got me thinking – and I decided to make a simple template to help get anyone who’s keen to make their own cards, get started.
In the thread, one person persistently insisted that she could never make a card for herself: Alisa (aka ayaandjudah). So, I asked her if she would like to help play with and test the template, and I’m delighted to say she said yes!! So, this is what I came up with:
To download, simply click this link.
There is essentially only one template, but I’ve turned it, shifted the sentiment about and prepared it for simple printing – so you’ll find 4 actual files to play with. Each template has 3 layers with a simple white border ‘built in’ to each to make that layer pop.
In the downloaded file, you’ll also find a ‘how-to’ Word document, complete with examples. I warn you, it’s a bit on the long-winded side (sorry!!), but hopefully it will smoothly guide you through to make a nice ‘n simple card of your own. I used the templates to make these examples:
This card was made with A Whimsical Garden by Kristin Cronin-Barrow, and take a look at this second example made with The Birds and the Bees by Krystal Hartley:
And how did Alisa find it all? Easy! This is her very first card, made for an up & coming celebration:
…and just take a look at her second:
You can see that she was so confident after just her first use of the template, that she modified the template to suit her own tastes to make her second! I don’t think there’ll be any stopping her now 😉
Remember, this template set is simply to get you started – if you’ve never tried to make a card before, think of them as training wheels: have a go, have fun, then go off and do your own thing!
If you do give making a card with the templates (and remember there is nothing like receiving a home-made Birthday or Christmas card!) please remember to show it off with pride in our fabulous hybrid gallery! I can’t wait to see what you make…
See you next month!

Such a cute owly card, Sara! You did a really good job. It doesn’t look digital (i.e. flat) at all.
Printing out the pieces and then using the pop dots really helps with hybrid, doesn’t it?

Good morning,,,I found this page whilst searching for a simple card template -(I am just starting out in the digital world…lol) and have tried to download the ‘Hot 4 Hybrid’ template, but it says the file has gone. Is there any chance you still have it please.
Thank you.
Rozie.
