It’s Spin-A-Lift time!

Hello everyone! Welcome to the new and improved Sweet Shoppe blog. We hope You will see something here that motivates You to scrap something sweet! In case You’re new to the “Spin-A-Lift” challenge, You’re basically supposed to find a LO that You love that is created by this week’s amazing scrapper..and put Your own SPIN on it. Like a scrap-lift with a funky twist.

So to kick things off this week, we’re gonna be putting a spin on this month’s TOTM who is the very talented scrapper & designer, Gina Miller! Gina is no stranger to scrapbooking, and it’s no secret that she does a great job preserving memories. It was really difficult to pick just one page that I wanted to lift, but I managed to find a newish one that peaked My interest. I put My spin on “Shirley Temple Lovin’ Gals”, shown below.

Cute page isn’t it?? Now..the point of this challenge is to put a SPIN on the selected LO, so if My page doesn’t look exactly like Gina’s that’s the point. 🙂 Here’s My take on this great page..

I knew that You were a girl when We heard Your Mommy was pregnant. Maybe it’s because I wanted another little princess so badly, but either way..I was so thrilled when You arrived and holding You in My arms for the first time was one of the best feelings. I’m so glad We have another little lady to add to our crew. Welcome to the club sweet Madison.

I just couldn’t resist scrapping My brand new beautiful niece Madison who was born on February 1st! Isn’t she a doll??

I just wanted to say a couple things about My lift. I kept with Gina’s photo composition..1 larger photo (framed) and 2 smaller ones in negatives. She had her journaling in a rectangular area and I used the same font that She used. I also went with 2 font colors like Gina, but chose a bold black and white combo with some kraft strips behind the black for a little dimension. Instead of a floral doodle, I used a flourish and instead of beaded letters, I used type keys. I included a file folder, but it’s not as much of a focal point as the one in Gina’s page. All in all, I am really happy with how it turned out and I think Gina really inspired Me. I hope that You guys will take this challenge and have fun with it. You can find Gina’s gallery at DST here and we welcome You to post your lifts in our brand new member gallery at SSD, found here. Thanks guys, happy superbowl Sunday!
